Day 13, In Painesville, Sunday June 20

12 miles :: trip total 426 miles

Fitzgerald Irish B&B, 47 Mentor Ave

Had we arrived in Painesville the evening before, we surely would have enjoyed the weekly car cruising and car show around the picturesque town green in the Mentor Ave Historic District where we were staying this extra day. Alas, we missed it.

A layover day first priority on a bike trip is to do laundry... Check!
Our few miles this day included exploring the historic district and other close by areas.

Painesville, settled in 1800, was named after General Edwin Paine who served in the Revolutionary War and then settled here. The Beaux-Arts style Lake County Courthouse was built in 1909, a prominent building on the grassy square. The pillared City Hall, built in the 1930s, has the same function today. The city appears to be working hard to revitalize its downtown historic buildings.
